Russian-born artist Kristina Varaksina has resided in the USA since 2010. She currently
lives and works between London and New York.
She received her Master of Fine Art degree in Photography in 2013 at the Academy of Art University, San Francisco. Varaksina's work has been exhibited in galleries around the globe: San Francisco, Berlin, Shanghai, London as well as receiving a multitude of awards and recognitions, such as BJP Portrait of Humanity 2020, AOP Awards 2020, PX3 Prix de la Photographie Paris, or Vogue.it BEST OF.
In the last 14 months she has been working on her series of metaphoric self-portraits, reflecting on gender related issues and promoting female empowerment.
Varaksina’s photographic work focuses on capturing human emotions and the psychological impressions of her subjects’ minds, enabling them to project their internal realities. Her photographs explore a female perspective, the connections between the woman’s psyche and the external world.
