‘Milk and Honey’ is the biblical definition and symbol of fertility, abundance and sexuality. It relates to mother earth and women and is a metaphor of the divine female figure. Today ‘Milk and Honey’ is often interpreted in the context of motherhood and femininity.
Curators Statement:
Women have been and continue to be integral to society and the institution of art. But despite being engaged with the art community in every way, many female artists have found opposition in the traditional narrative of art history. Women are dramatically underrepresented in the art world until this day. Against this trend we want to create space and shed a light on women in art and set an example for more inclusion and equity. The exhibition “Milk & Honey'' focuses on topics such as sensitivity in female photography with an individual perspective of each artist.
